Great campground for motorcycle

Riding Day 26     June 25

Watson Lake, YT To Whitehorse, YT

Ride Mileage :  272            Weather condition: good with few showers

Total Mileage :  5567

Pretty nice ride today, not as scenic as yesterday though but quite enjoyable and a bit shorter. I rode again with John today, that was nice as we ride more or less at the same pace and no one has to wait for another.

I was not sure where I was going to sleep tonight, all the motels in Whitehorse are outrageously expensive for rather basic amenities ($250 on average, all cheaper ones have been booked long time ago). I remembered to have seen on the ADVrider forum, someone mentioning a new campground for motorcycles in Whitehorse (the Yukon motorcycle park). It is still under construction but they have some tents already built and are taking reservations and the reviews so far were excellent. So I booked one tent for the night, at least I will have somewhere to go and not have to search forever in the town for a reasonable deal. This is really the annoying part of a trip, either you book everything in advance but then you are stuck with your choice and if something happen in the planning you have to cancel a bunch of reservations or you do your booking on a daily basis and face some inconvenience.

The Yukon motorcycle park. Great place!

The famous sign post forest in Watson Lake was started in 1942 by a homesick GI who was working on the Alaska highway and posted the sign of its hometown of Danville, IL.

Very nice tent for the night and comfortable bed.
