A round trip on the Dalton Hwy

Riding Day 32    July 2

Fairbanks, AK to Yukon river round trip

Ride Mileage :  280            Weather condition: some rain and very smoky

Total Mileage :  6611

First ride today after few days resting at the Sven’s basecamp. I went for a round trip to the Yukon river on the Dalton highway. That was the farthest I could ride with a full tank and 2 extra gallons of gas. There are no gas stations on the way, so you have to plan for the return, that’s about 280 miles.

I’m also not going any further north, tomorrow I will start my way back home, another month or so of fun ride and new adventures.

It was very smoky all the way to the river due to multiple wild fires. Very annoying.

The bike get dirty very quickly and some portion of the Dalton get very slippery when wet because of the chloride calcium they spread on the road to keep the dust low.

The trans Alaska pipeline that runs over 800 miles from Prudhoe Bay to Valdez.

This is a short video of Fabian leaving this morning for Coldfoot and then Deadhorse on its 1972 Royal Enfield Bullet. The diesel engine is manufactured by Hatz and it’s a 500 CC.
